"G-Scott's word play is what caught my attention. He's very articulate, has very good content and is definitely somebody to look out for." - Freddie Gibbs
A fusion of midwest sound with a melodic twist, Gary, Indiana’s, G-Scott brings a refreshing sound to hip hop and music. Scott has amassed a loyal fan base, releasing 7 full bodies of work and opening for Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Willie The Kid, Chip The Ripper, and Travis Porter. He was signed to **Freddie Gibbs** imprint Str8 Slammin' when he released his most notable project "Weekend in Las Vegas.'
Currently, G-Scott is gearing up to release his 8th studio project, G-Scott Vs the Universe which would be his first release in two years. This project especially is very much inspired by video games and comics.
“I started off wanting to design video games then fell in love with music so this time around I wanted to put that stuff into the rollout and content. The title describes how I was feeling during the process of making it. At a certain point I felt nothing was going right and the universe was against me. I’m a big fan of the Scott Pilgrim movie and comic series so I wanted to make something that brought all that together.”
The project is due to release late 2017. In the meantime be sure to check out his latest release and subscribe to his newsletter to be the first to hear the new project when it drops.
Once an aspiring video game designer, Gerald “G-Scott” Bailey started making music at the age of 15 during his freshman year of high school. What started as a summer hobby quickly transformed into a passion and "G-Scott" the rapper/producer was born. Self-taught in Fruity Loops, Reason 3 and 4 and Adobe Audition, throughout high school he became known as the “go-to-guy” for production to the upcoming rappers. However, it wasn't until senior year that Scott began to take his lyrical ability seriously.
After his first semester at Indiana University Northwest, G-Scott released his first project “The
Billionaire Block Boy.” The tape was met with warm reception on several blog sites and Scott has been buzzing on the hip-hop scene since. He followed up with "Scott Bailey vs. The World" and "The Michael G. Scott EP."
In 2012 he was signed to **Freddie Gibbs** imprint Str8 Slammin' and released his most notable project "Weekend in Las Vegas.' The project hit hard garnering attention from the likes of XXL, The Source, Red Mull Music, MTV, Fuse TV and more. Though things didn’t quite work out on the label, Scott continued to do what he does best and released a series of full-length albums and EPs on his own - "1983" (LP), "Nostalgia: Flight 222" (EP) and "8-Bit Scott (EP).
Now, on the verge of the release of his upcoming “Vs the Universe” project, G-Scott aims to raise the bar for hip hop coming out of Indiana.
“I want people to pay attention to Indiana in hip hop. I want people to listen and feel like someone else deals with everyday trials and tribulations and can make it through. From love and relationships, depression, addiction, suicide and being able to see both sides of life from what some would say was a good upbringing as well as growing into an adult and seeing life on the other side in more street stuff to make ends meet. It all gets better. That’s what I want people to feel.“
